Drei Umweltsünder lagern illegal chemischen Giftmüll in den Katakomben eines Minenschachtes und plündern bei dieser Gelegenheit zwei Särge einer angrenzenden Gruft. Durch ein plötzliches Erdbeben stürzt eines der Giftfässer um, setzt toxische Dämpfe frei und erweckt Catherine wieder zum Leben. Sie tötet zwei der Männer, während der dritte an den Folgen der Gifteinwirkung verstirbt. Anschließend wandelt sie apathisch in das abseits der Ortschaft gelegene und nun zum Verkauf stehende Château Valmont, ihrem früheren Zuhause. Ihre beste Freundin Helene ist sehr erfreut darüber, dass Catherine anscheinend wieder unter den Lebenden weilt. Sie ahnt, dass etwas mit ihrer Freundin nicht stimmt, toleriert ihren krankheitsbedingten Zustand und weigert sich stur an den Tod ihrer Freundin zu glauben. Diese bedingungslose Loyalität geht so weit, dass sie sich als lebende Blutspenderin ihrer stummen Freundin anbietet, und als das nicht genug ist, lockt sie für ihre Freundin neue Opfer aufs Schloss...
